Community Urban Forests

Since 2018, a network of Urban Forests has been established across public, private, and green areas, with the support of DAGMA and the Municipal Protected Areas System (SIMAP). This project actively involves local communities to promote biodiversity conservation and enhance the urban environment.

INNOVATION AWARD

As the international city of Peace & Justice, The Hague prioritizes cybersecurity, and this competition helps enhance digital safety and resilience. Densification, heat, drought and heavy rainfall put pressure on cities sports fields. Artificial grass exacerbates heat issues, with dangerous temperatures in summer. CitySports has transformed artificial grass fields into tools for urban health & climate resilience.

The construction of the Piratininga Orla Park and the renaturalization of the Jacaré River Basin were intended to the environmental recovery of its Lagoon and surroundings, transforming a before inhospitable place into leisure and housing areas with basic sanitation for different income brackets.

Dublin Active Travel Dashboard

Smart Dublin - Dublin City Council, Ireland
The Dublin Active Travel Dashboard aims to be a one-stop shop for active travel data in Dublin. The dashboard combines census commuting data, Google EIE trips data and EcoCounter cycle and pedestrian counter data to accurately build a picture of active travel in Dublin.

Red Movilidad

Undersecretary of Transport of Chile
It is a system focused on public transportation, starting in Santiago and then expanding to other regions. Its implementation aims to improve national mobility, with the integration of various modes of transportation, the implementation of technologies, and the renewal of the bus fleet to electric ones.

Metrorower Metropolitan Bike

Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia, Poland
Creation of a public bike rental system, which is common for 31 communes creating GZM metropolitan area. Thanks 7000 bicycles and 924 rental stations (to be grown up in future) city bicycles are a much more efficient means of transport for short and medium distances than individual cars.

HousingNowTO is an affordable housing development tracking and transparency project that monitors progress on government-sponsored projects in Toronto since 2019. It removes industry jargon, thereby minimizing misinformation and enhancing transparency and opportunities for genuine civic engagement.

Regenerating Barcelona (RegBCN)

Constraula, Barcelona, Spain
RegBCN, developed by Constraula and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, won the Barcelona City Council and Bit Habitat urban challenge. It enhances habitability, comfort, and energy efficiency in city buildings, while protecting and expanding homes and communal spaces.

Glass to concrete

Envision Charlotte, USA
We are closing the loop on glass by creating micro hubs using shipping containers to process glass. These hubs would be located around the city in areas dense with bars and restaurants. The processed glass will then be used in place of natural sand in concrete for local projects.

Get Online London (GOL) is the UK and London’s first pan-city sustainable digital inclusion service, created to improve access to digital devices, connectivity and digital skills for London residents, addressing the deepening inequalities resulting from our increasing digital society.

Citizens' Convention about AI

Forty citizens, representative of the Metropolis' population (age, profession, town...), were selected to discuss the stakes and impacts of AI on Montpellier's region and its citizens. This approach, unprecedented in France, is an innovative way of consulting citizens to help shape the future of AI.

Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH)
A project to develop a predictive model for visualizing public safety big data and identifying vulnerable areas necessary for creating a safe city, utilizing COMPAS, an innovative platform that solves urban problems through crowdsourcing by engaging citizen participation and data analysis.

Cold Rooms for Smart Cities

Global Mayors Challenge Project, Rourkela, India
The Rourkela Cold Room Project includes five solar-powered cold rooms managed by Women’s Self- Help Groups under the Rourkela Municipal Corporation. These facilities help farmers and vendors store vegetables and fruits, reducing food wastage and enhancing their income.

Digaê!

Government of State of Alagoas, Brazil
The Digaê! was an innovative experience in public management by the Government of Alagoas, involving the youth from the grotas (favelas) of Maceió. It was based on the stories, struggles, and experiences of these areas, with a focus on spreading a perspective from within the grotas about themselves.
